Introduction

"It's endurance and stamina/that separates pros from amateurs." This following quotation is from a poem by Greg Birkett, called The Race. Life can be very unpredictable with many obstacles we face daily. The following poem, The Race, refers to a gentleman who experienced the harsh lives of the street, growing up in one of the hardest block around. Birkett mentions how life can be very hard and unfair and you have to deal with a lot of struggle. However, the one who is determined and ambitious will succeed. His thoughts are can be reflected and presented in many media forms, such as the song by Tupac Shakur, “Changes”, the picture of Jamail O’niel, power forward of the Toronto Raptors and the movie Above the Rim, directed by Jeff Pollack.
